What are Home Security System Components?
from:
Nowadays, it is very important to protect your home. The fact is, you do not know whom to trust anymore. As times are this hard, everyone tries to find ways to protect their property. Some people contact security agencies and companies, while others build up their own home security systems. In any case, it is important to know what home security system components are.
This way, you will be able to understand how exactly the system works, and how you can improve it.
Knowledge of home security system components also gives you the ability to make those components work better to protect your home. So what indeed are the components of a home security system?
To know this, we must first understand what a would-be burglar fears. A burglar needs two things to be successful: speed and stealth. Therefore, what the burglar fears are the things that would cancel those two weapons.
Home security system components often do this by utilizing three things:
1. Light – it is said that darkness is a thief’s best friend. The dark gives a thief the stealth he needs in order to work.
You cannot catch what you can’t see, right?
A good home security system component is one that incorporates light in order to neutralize the thief’s use of the dark.
It might sound a bit “jedi”, but the light side will protect you from the dark.
There are many ways in which light becomes a component of home security systems.
*A well-lit home discourages would-be burglars because they cannot work well there.
*Automatic motion-detecting lights startle burglars, causing them to stop whatever they are doing.
*Infrared lighting on cameras help identify thieves better, aiding in their capture.
2) Noise – noise also neutralizes a burglar’s stealth. Any object that can make a noise may be included as a home security system component.
Not a long time ago, people used pots, pans, bells, or anything that makes a loud ruckus to alert them to any entries during the night.
Now, however, noise is used in a manner that is so different and yet still the same.
A home security system component uses noise in these ways:
*Burglar alarms that make loud noises whenever a door or window is opened.
*Pressure switches that trigger alarms whenever a valuable is removed from its place.
*Alarms that alert the authorities but not the burglar. This way, the burglar cannot escape.
3) Time –time may be the most crucial aspect of a burglar’s plans. A thief needs to break in, steal, and get out with a speed that minimizes the chances of capture.
Anything that delays a burglar can be considered as a home security system component.
There are a number of home security system components that utilize time. Some of these are:
*Sturdy doors with locks –this may seem utterly ridiculous but most break-ins actually occur with the help of unlocked doors.
Some people look for electronic locks, but thieves sometimes also use electronics to easily unlock those easily.
However, experts still agree that a simple deadbolt is the best type of lock to use as it may just be the hardest lock to pick.
You should also have a good, sturdy door so that a burglar can’t just smash it in.
*Reinforced windows –If a thief cannot get in through the door, a window will be the next thing he will look at.
Reinforced windows will be harder to shatter, and therefore harder to penetrate.
Some reinforced windows are now offered at cheap prices so you can install them as a component of your home security system.
These are just some home security system components, but remember that the most important one is you.
No matter how sophisticated your home security system is, if you do not have the presence of mind to use it, then you might as well start giving away your stuff right now.
The power is yours.
